The India HCI Conference is an annual international event held in various Indian cities, serving as a pivotal gathering for individuals passionate about Human-Computer Interaction (HCI). This conference provides a platform for researchers to converge, fostering interactions aimed at learning, discussing, and advancing issues, ideas, and projects relevant to HCI.
The India HCI conference was first organised in 2004 and has been regularly organised since 2010. Earlier conferences were organised by groups of volunteers. HCI Professionals Association of India was formed as a not-for-profit organisation in 2013, which has since taken over the financial responsibility of the conference. Previous conferences were held in different cities in India, namely Mumbai, Bangalore, Pune, Delhi, Guwahati, Hyderabad and Dehradun.
The inaugural India HCI Conference, India HCI 2004, was organised from 6th to 8th December 2004, with crucial support from the Indo-European Systems Usability Partnership project, a non-profit EU-Asia IT&C initiative. Since then, the conference has continually expanded its horizons, exploring diverse facets of HCI and maintaining a steadfast commitment to showcasing high-quality research and design professionalism in HCI.
The India HCI Conference represents India's burgeoning interest in HCI. It exemplifies the significance of organising localised HCI efforts on a global scale. It has continued playing an integral role in propelling the field forward by bringing together researchers, practitioners, and enthusiasts. It has nurtured a rich ecosystem for HCI research and innovation within India and abroad.
